	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/02/2023 answer text <p>Through government funding to local authorities, including the Local Government Finance Settlement, UK-wide growth funding schemes and other grant programmes, the Government is enabling local areas to tackle net zero goals in ways that best suit their needs.</p><p>The Government also funds five Local Net Zero Hubs to support local authorities to develop net zero projects and attract commercial investment. In the absence of a capacity cap or similar constraint, competitors in Contract for Difference auctions would have no incentive to bid below the wholesale price of electricity. A capacity cap was first deployed in the third Contract for Difference auction in 2019, which secured nearly twice the capacity of the previous auction with a 30% reduction in clearing prices. In 2018, the Government announced its intention to run auctions under the scheme every two years. The last auction took place in 2019, and the next is scheduled to take place in 2021. Although difficult to predict with certainty, the Government expects AR4 to have a relatively small impact on household bills. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/09/2021 answer text <p>The Government recognises that achieving our 2050 net zero target will require increased deployment across a range of renewable technologies. The UK's main support mechanism is the Contracts for Difference Scheme (CfD), which has been hugely successful at bringing forward large-scale renewable generation at low costs to the consumer.</p><p> </p><p>Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) can improve the financial viability of renewable projects built without Government support. PPAs of this nature do not add to consumer levy costs, have the potential to create additional renewable generation capacity and can reduce overall demands on the grid if meeting the needs of large energy users.
