star this property answer text <p>We have prioritised helping the greatest number of people as quickly as possible and it is difficult to come up with reliable criteria that apply to all the relevant sectors of the economy. We are aware some people will not be eligible for the scheme, but they may still benefit from a number of other support schemes available.</p><p> </p><p>The Department is engaging a wide range of stakeholders in relation to Covid-19, and in addition to the Business Secretary’s regular meeting with business representative organisations, I recently hosted a call with stakeholders on support for the self-employed and will continue to engage on the issue.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Under the Enterprise Act 2002, Ministers can only intervene in mergers that raise public interest concerns on the grounds of national security, financial stability and media plurality.</p><p> </p><p>Public interest interventions are quasi-judicial in nature. star this property answer text <p>It is the regulator, Ofgem and not BEIS’s responsibility to monitor energy supply companies’ performance in the energy retail market. Standard Licence Condition 32 in the supply licence requires energy suppliers to submit information to Ofgem, Citizens Advice and Citizens Advice Scotland on their dealings with gas and electricity customers in a variety of areas and includes data on disconnections carried out by the licensee. Friend the Financial Secretary to the Treasury in the answer to PQ UIN <a href="http://www.parliament.uk/written-questions-answers-statements/written-question/commons/2018-02-05/126607" target="_blank">126607</a> for a number of reasons. In particular, timing differences in the recognition of objections from HMRC, situations where the application to strike off has been abandoned by the time HMRC’s objection is processed and cases where HMRC are required to issue multiple objections in respect of the same winding up due the length of time involved.</p>
