answer text
The Government wants to see at least 50%, and as many as 70%, of new car sales, and up to 40% of new van sales being ultra low emission vehicles (ULEVs) by 2030. The Government’s role is to set the right framework for industry to bring forward the technologies to support this transition, and to encourage people to choose the cleanest vehicles. Price parity between conventional and ultra low emission vehicles, anticipated by many to be reached in the mid 2020s, will be a key factor.

Given the many uncertainties in the adoption of new technologies, it is challenging to project progress against future levels of ambition. However, the Government actively tracks market developments and notes that ULEVs continue to increase their share of new registrations in the UK. In Quarter 3 of 2018, the number of plug-in grant-eligible cars registered for the first time in the United Kingdom was up by over 12% on the same quarter in 2017, and by 50% on the same quarter in 2016. The Department will keep under review progress towards its ambitions by 2025, and will consider what interventions are required if not enough progress is being made.

answer text
Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is a charity independent of the Church of England. CAP run over 1,000 debt advice centres across the country supporting individuals and families in need. The work of CAP has recently been evaluated by the LSE and its report concluded that the benefit of CAP's work to society was over £31.5million per year, in return for an annual expenditure of £8.7 million.

More information about the report can be found here: https://capuk.org/connect/policy-and-government/never-just-a-number

The parishes of the Church of England often partner with organisations such as Christians Against Poverty to provide a range of services to support their local communities. The Church of England recently surveyed its parishes and discovered that 80% of congregations are involved in one or more forms of social action. Data gathered from 13,000 churches shows that the biggest area of work is in food banks - with 60%, or nearly 8,000 churches - involved in either running or supporting food banks through volunteers, donations and providing venues.

answer text
For each of the last five years the impact of DFID’s work has been set out in the Departmental Annual Reports and Accounts. The DFID Annual Report and Accounts 2017-2018 also shows the results achieved during the period April 2015 to March 2018. In that period, UK Official Development Assistance reached 26.8 million people with humanitarian assistance and supported 40.3 million people to access clean water and/or better sanitation. Between January 2015 and December 2017, it supported the immunisation of approximately 37.4 million children, saving an estimated 610,000 lives. We are committed to improving the effectiveness and transparency of UK aid to ensure we are attaining maximum impact from our aid budget. The Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI) has the remit to provide independent scrutiny of the impact and value for money of all UK Government aid spending and reports its finding to Parliament’s International Development Committee.
