answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/06/2015 answer text <p>The move to regional adoption agencies will improve the efficiency of adoption services and increase the scale at which services operate. This is expected to lead to savings for local authorities through efficiency gains as they benefit from economies of scale and through improvements in the timeliness of adoptions. The Department for Education is working with local authorities to encourage voluntary consolidation. The department will assess and evaluate the costs and savings resulting from the measures as part of this work. The department will also provide some financial support for transition to regional adoption agencies.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Education and Adoption Bill also includes measures to improve the overall quality of education received by children in England. This includes streamlining the process by which failing schools become academies and introducing new powers to support and challenge coasting schools. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/06/2015 answer text <p>According to our records, examined in March 2015, Ofsted found that in five authorities - Birmingham, Blackpool, Calderdale, Coventry and Swindon - visits to privately fostered children were not always made within statutory timeframes as set out in the Private Fostering Regulations (England) 2005.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>As set out in response to PQ 228386, four of the five authorities - all bar Swindon - are subject to formal intervention measures. From the 2016 intake the:</p><p> </p><ul><li><p>Number of training places will rise by 14% from 132 to 150</p></li><li><p>Year one<a title="" href="http://3dcpri-papp09/new_parliamentaryquestion/347%20-%20Steve%20McCabe/Draft/000347%20SpAd%20amends%20020615.docx#_ftn1" target="_blank">[1]</a> government bursary will increase by 10% from £14,400 to £15,950 (£14,900 to £16,390 for trainees attending a university in London).</p></li></ul><p> </p><p>The exact figures are not yet known as we are currently out to open tender for training providers to deliver training for intakes in 2016 and 2017, with an option for an intake in 2018.
