answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/05/2024 answer text <p>The Veterans Strategy Action Plan sets out over sixty commitments from across government to deliver on the vision and principles of our 2018 Strategy for our veterans, including on housing.</p><p>The Government is committed to providing high priority access for social housing and temporary accommodation. To improve access to social housing, we changed the law so that veterans with urgent housing needs are always given ‘additional preference’ (high priority) for social housing, and that those who left the forces within the preceding 5 years cannot be disqualified from social housing because of a local connection or residency requirement.</p><p>We have also published dedicated statutory social housing allocations guidance which sets out how local authorities can support veterans and their families to access social housing.</p><p>To ensure the sustainable supply of social housing, the £20 million Veteran Capital Housing Fund continues to award grants to fund the refurbishment of existing, affordable and social rental properties, as well as the development and delivery of new build projects.</p><p><strong></strong><br><br></p> answering member constituency Plymouth, Moor View answering member printed Johnny Mercer question first answered 01/05/2024 15:48:03 answering member 4485 label Biography information for Johnny Mercer

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/05/2024 answer text <p>The Veterans Welfare Service forms part of Defence Business Services (DBS), and is not an independent entity.</p><p> </p><p>Budgets and staff numbers are allocated within DBS at the delivery of veterans' services level referred to publicly as Veterans UK, and includes the administration of compensation claims, veterans' welfare services, pensions, some support to serving personnel and the running of Ilford Park Polish Home. There is also substantial investment being made in the UK including around £100 million into UK shipyards, including £77 million of infrastructure at Harland &amp; Wolff’s Belfast shipyard, the agreement will see a further £21 million invested in skills and technology transfer from Navantia UK. Whilst the majority of the work will take place in the UK, companies in the supply chain are still being engaged. There is also substantial investment being made in UK shipbuilding and ship design.</p><p> </p><p>As prime contractor for the Fleet Solid Support ships Navantia UK is in the process of letting a number of contracts to UK companies, including those already let with BMT and Harland &amp; Wolff. The value of the individual contracts is commercially sensitive information. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/04/2024 answer text <p>The Government ‘help to heat’ schemes supports deployment of low carbon heating in rural areas through ECO, Wave 2 of SHDF and HUG2.</p><p> </p><p>The Boiler Upgrade Scheme also provides grants of £7,500 towards upfront cost and installation of air and ground source heat pumps. We are increasing the shared ground loops system capacity limit in May from 45kW to 300kW to address the concerns that groundworks for ground source heat pumps are a significant barrier to deployment.</p><p> </p><p>Shared ground loop installations which satisfy the eligibility criteria for the Green Heat Network Fund can apply to the scheme for support.
