answer text <p>Those most at risk from flu including people over 65, pregnant women, and those in clinical risk groups are offered annual vaccination. At-risk patients are targeted by the Public Health England and NHS England marketing campaign, Help Us Help You, which includes television, radio and advertising supported by public relations, digital search and partnership activity. Communications this year will include messages about a wider range of flu vaccines now available which offer better protection. Help Us Help You can be viewed at the following link:</p><p><a href="https://campaignresources.phe.gov.uk/resources/campaigns/81-help-us-help-you/overview" target="_blank">https://campaignresources.phe.gov.uk/resources/campaigns/81-help-us-help-you/overview</a></p><p>The annual flu letter is available at the following link:</p><p><a href="https://www.england.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/annual-national-flu-programme-2019-to-2020-1.pdf" target="_blank">https://www.england.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/annual-national-flu-programme-2019-to-2020-1.pdf</a></p><p>Those eligible for flu vaccination can get the vaccine from their general practitioner, or in a scheme introduced in 2015/16, through local pharmacies, thus widening patient access. 80% of maternity service providers also offer vaccination to pregnant women.</p><p>As part of its assurance process NHS England works through its regional teams and clinical commissioning groups to ensure that practices with lowest uptake are contacted and action is taken to increase vaccination rates.</p><p> </p>

answer text <p>Public Health England is planning to spend £1,300,000 on a flu vaccination campaign to encourage eligible members of the public and health and social care workers to take up the free vaccine ahead of the winter season. The spend includes expenditure for advertising on television, radio, national and regional press, outdoor, digital, and printing, excluding VAT. answer text <p>NHS England has for the last three years carried out a ‘state of readiness’ assessment for the administration of the winter flu vaccine with the NHS England local public health commissioning teams.</p><p>Public Health England (PHE) supplies flu vaccines for the children’s flu programme. Sufficient vaccine has been procured in the last three years to ensure that all eligible children who present for vaccination can be offered the appropriate vaccine.</p><p>General practitioners are responsible for ordering from manufacturers sufficient flu vaccinations for other eligible groups in their population. PHE and NHS England have for the last three years worked closely with the flu vaccine manufacturers on the supply of sufficient vaccines. In particular, in 2018/19, NHS England worked closely with the manufacturer of the vaccines for the over 65s and service providers to manage the phased delivery of supplies to ensure satisfactory uptake rates were achieved.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Flu vaccines for people aged 18 years and older are procured directly from manufacturers and suppliers by providers, based on their local assessment of need. The procurement and distribution of flu vaccines for the children’s aspect of the national flu programme is managed by Public Health England (PHE). Vaccine production is a complex and multi-stage process, which will involve a touch-point outside of the United Kingdom.</p><p>Officials continuously monitor the flu vaccine supply landscape to enable timely and appropriate action to be taken in the event of supply issues.</p><p>The Department, PHE and NHS England are in regular discussion with the manufacturers to ensure they have appropriate contingency plans in place to prepare for a potential ‘no deal’ scenario.</p>
