I have met regularly with the local team, key stakeholders and private sector partners to discuss progress.</p><p> </p><p>In recent months I have hosted meetings specifically on the City Deal on the following dates:</p><p>1 September 2016;</p><p>14 September 2016;</p><p>7 November 2016;</p><p>5 December 2016;</p><p>6 December 2016;</p><p>17 January 2017; and</p><p>22 February 2017.</p><p> </p><p>Additionally, I have had a number of phone calls with strategic partners.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Bank of England has announced that future banknotes, starting with the polymer £5 note in September 2016, will include symbols that represent all four home nations. For Wales, the imagery will be taken from the Royal Coat of Arms and the Royal Badge of Wales. It was recently announced that the design for the £5 note will be revealed on 2 June 2016.</p><p> </p><p>The UK is rare in allowing commercial banks to issue banknotes. The 1844 Bank Charter Act prevented any other banks, apart from the ones already licensed to do so, from being authorised to issue banknotes.</p><p> </p><p>The North and South Wales Bank was the last Welsh commercial bank that had the ability to issue banknotes. It lost this right when it was bought by Midland Bank in 1908.</p><p> </p><p>The Royal Mint, based in Llantrisant, South Wales, remains responsible for manufacturing the coins of the UK.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The recent announcement of job losses at Port Talbot is another hammer blow to the industry and the wider South Wales economy.</p><p>I have had regular contact with the Welsh Government Minister for Economy, Science and Transport since the announcement. With the Minister for Small Business, Industry and Enterprise, I have offered the UK Government’s full commitment to working collaboratively with the Welsh Government.</p><p>My Ministerial colleague, Lord Bourne of Aberystwyth, has also accepted an invitation from the Welsh Government to be part of a High Level Task Force charged with supporting everyone affected by the job losses at Port Talbot.</p><p>Our immediate priority is to support those who have suffered job losses and to ensure the industry has a sustainable future in Wales.</p> more like this
