answer text
The UK Government is providing the Executive with a significant £3.3 billion spending settlement to stabilise its finances and protect public services. Within this package, we are increasing the spending power of the Executive by repurposing over £700 million of existing and new UK Government funds.

The Fresh Start agreement in 2015 made provision for funding for integrated and shared education over 10 years. As that funding was due to expire at the end of 2024-25, the decision to remove the ring-fence on £150m of Fresh Start Agreement funding was made by the UK Government on taking a coherent look across its existing funding in Northern Ireland. We came to a considered position in response to the challenging budgetary position faced by the Northern Ireland Executive.

The Northern Ireland Executive will be able to decide how it uses the non-ring fenced funding element of reprioritised and new UK Government funding streams which contribute to the settlement package.

In line with commitments in the Belfast Agreement, the Government will continue to invest in and support educational integration in Northern Ireland as an essential aspect of reconciliation.

answer text
Social security and the provision of benefits is a devolved matter and the responsible department is the Northern Ireland Department for Communities which has received a budget allocation of £862 million for the 2023-24 financial year. This budget allocation does not include additional funding for Northern Ireland’s existing social security mitigations which are more generous than the rest of the UK. The UK Government continues to explore, with the Northern Ireland Civil Service, the options for increasing budget sustainability to help ensure that public services in Northern Ireland are affordable on an ongoing basis.
more like this

answer text
The requested statistics are unavailable as there is no register of UK “businesses.”

There is no mechanism to relocate a UK limited company between jurisdictions. A company must maintain a registered office in the part of the UK in which it was originally incorporated. It is in this jurisdiction that the company remains legally domiciled regardless of where in the UK it might carry out its business activities. To relocate a limited company a new entity would need to be formed and the previous entity closed. No connection between the two would be recorded on the Register of Companies.
more like this

answer text
The UK Government provides, on average, £15 billion per year to Northern Ireland through the block grant. The Northern Ireland Department of Finance confirms that the budget for pay for Northern Ireland civil servants is approximately £409 million and the wider public sector is approximately £7.7 billion for the 2023-24 financial year. Stable and accountable devolved government is the best way of delivering on the issues that matter most to the people of Northern Ireland, such as public sector pay. That is why the focus of the UK Government remains on restoring the Executive.
more like this
