answer text <p>The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland has not made any assessment of the performance of the Electoral Office of Northern Ireland during the 2019 General Election. The Chief Electoral Officer is carrying out a post election review which will include an internal investigation into the allegations made concerning inefficiency. The Secretary of State has asked her to report the findings of that review to him as soon as possible. The Secretary of State has the power to commission further enquiries into these matters if he were to decide such enquiries are necessary following the Chief Electoral Officer’s investigations.</p> more like this

answer text <p>It remains the Government’s intention to leave the EU with a deal and pass the necessary legislation before 22 May, so that the UK does not need to participate in the European Parliamentary Elections.</p><p> </p><p>However, it is important that the Government takes the necessary steps in advance of the elections. The European Parliamentary Elections (Returning Officer’s Charges) (Northern Ireland) Order 2019 came into force on 26 April 2019. This sets out the maximum recoverable amount that the Chief Electoral Officer can recover from the Consolidated Fund for any expenses reasonably incurred for the delivery of the potential European Parliamentary election in Northern Ireland.</p><p> </p><p>The maximum recoverable amount specified in the Order is £2,850,000.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Alongside the Confidence &amp; Supply Agreement, the UK Government committed £1 billion of financial support to Northern Ireland in support of strengthening the Northern Ireland economy and recognising that Northern Ireland has unique circumstances within the UK.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has so far allocated £430 million to the Northern Ireland block grant and expects the release of a further £333 million in 2019/20, subject to Parliament’s approval through the normal Estimates process. The remaining £237m will be allocated in due course.</p><p> </p><p>Allocations to departments are agreed as part of the Budget process with any funding filtered to local councils through a variety of funding streams, as appropriate.
