answer text <p>Community Rehabilitation Companies (CRCs) came into existence on 1 June 2014 and ownership was transferred to new rehabilitation providers on 1 February 2015.</p><p> </p><p>The performance of CRCs, including compliance with Licence and Post-Sentence Supervision (PSS), is assessed through a range of service levels and through a robust contract management and assurance process. Performance information against these service levels is published quarterly, and the latest data can be found at:</p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/community-performance-quarterly-mi-update-to-december-2016" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/community-performance-quarterly-mi-update-to-december-2016</a>. End state targets for some service levels were only expected to be met by February 2017, and this period is due for publication on 27 July 2017.</p><p> </p><p>Public protection is our top priority and we will take all necessary action to make sure the probation system is reducing reoffending and preventing future victims. We have undertaken an overarching review of probation, looking at the standards we set for providers and how we hold them to account and will be publishing our findings in due course.</p>
