answer text <p>Designing and building submarines is one of the most complex activities that the Ministry of Defence and UK Industry undertakes. Historically the Astute Programme has suffered delays, as documented by the National Audit Office. Delays to the programme are predominantly due to the fact that BAE Systems and its supply chain had to re-establish the UK's nuclear submarine design, build, testing and commissioning capability following the ten-year gap after the delivery of the last Vanguard Class submarines, as well as addressing some unique technical challenges.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Aged Veterans Fund, set up in 2015, used available LIBOR funds to support older veterans. answer text <p>Junior soldiers are signed up for an apprenticeship when they join, which will be specific to the trade they wish to specialise in. The Army does not currently offer a 'Cyber' apprenticeship but does offer other apprenticeships relevant to those who work in this area.</p><p>Cyber security is vital to defence and training our personnel is of paramount importance to us. The Defence Cyber School, which celebrated its first-year anniversary in March, is a centre of excellence for cyber training established to meet the needs of defence and its partners, addressing all aspects of cyber training and education.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is taking a number of positive actions to make it easier for smaller companies to do business with defence, for example launching sub-contract advertising on our online portal and engaging more regularly with smaller businesses to help understand the challenges they face. We are also introducing new measures to ensure prime contractors' pay promptly and working to improve the pipeline information that we publish.</p><p>The MOD Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Action Plan 2019-2022 was published in March 2019 and this sets out the actions we are taking in more detail. answer text <p>The number of new Army recruits subject to a care order in financial year 2018-19 was 22. Information is not held centrally for the previous years as this preceded the new Defence Recruiting System.</p><p>Once recruits have joined the Army, information on those subject to care orders is retained at a local level to ensure and appropriate duty of care is discharged by the chain of command and unit welfare office. It is not held centrally and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.</p> more like this
