answer text <p>Comparable figures for financial year 2010-11 are not available as the Government had not, at that time, introduced The Clear of Line Sight initiative, which precludes analysis on a near cash basis for that financial year.</p><p> </p><p>In 2011-12 the Ministry of Defence (MOD) underspent by £300 million and there was no budget exchange.</p><p> </p><p>In 2012-13 the MOD underspent by £2.3 billion; £590 million was rolled forward into 2013-14, £1,706 million into 2014-15 and £21 million in 2015-16.</p><p> </p><p>In 2013-14 the MOD underspent by £900 million, £100 million was rolled forward into 2014-15 and £700 million in 2015-16.</p><p> </p><p>The MOD's final outturn for 2014-15 will not be available until the end of the financial year.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>We have acknowledged that we have a maritime surveillance capability gap following the decision not to bring the Nimrod MRA4 into service. However we have also made it clear that it is one that we have chosen to accept and to mitigate through employment of other assets, as well as through cooperation with allies, who have deployed Maritime Patrol Aircraft on several occasions.</p><p>A decision on whether to take further steps to mitigate the gap is planned as part of the next Strategic Defence and Security Review.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The first UK pilot completed training with the Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501 (VMFAT-501) in February 2013 and, on current plans, the final UK pilots to complete their training on VMFAT-501 will do so in May 2018. answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is just one organisation with a role in the security of the United Kingdom's (UK) territorial waters. To reflect this cross-Government responsibility, under the UK National Strategy for Maritime Security, a Ministerial working group, chaired by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, has been established to focus on maritime security in its entirety.</p><p> </p><p>Through the coordination of intelligence and information the National Maritime Information Centre (NMIC) provides the UK with a comprehensive picture of potential threats to UK maritime security and unified situational awareness of maritime activity in UK and international waters.</p><p> </p><p>The MOD contributes to HMG's efforts by providing multi-layered capability to deter incursions into territorial waters. This is delivered through a combination of surface ships, submarines and aircraft, alongside close co-ordination and co-operation with other Government Agencies and our allies.</p><p> </p><p>I am not prepared to disclose further details as this would, or would be likely to, prejudice the capability, effectiveness or security of the Armed Forces.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
