answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/02/2015 answer text <p>Installation of the Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) II involves the integration of multiple Tornado GR4 aircraft systems. BAE Systems is managing this through a Weapon System Specification from which it has flowed down specific equipment specifications to the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The OEMs detail how they have met the specific equipment specification by providing a Declaration of Design Performance in a format specified by Panavia, the original manufacturer of the aircraft. This modelled an estimate of the expected future level of Tornado Mid-Air Collisions from 2011 through the remaining service life of Tornado GR4.</p><p>The figure of 0.84 per 1,000 uses a different metric, in accordance with the Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Article (RA) 1210 Annex A. It took the decision to move, as part of our plans for Future Force 2020, to a fast jet fleet of Typhoon and Joint Strike Fighter aircraft, and to retain a reduced Tornado fleet in the transitional period. Decisions on the timetable for reducing the Tornado fleet were made subsequently and are adjusted as necessary based on advice.
