answer text
The Strategic Defence and Security Review 2010 did not decide to disband Number II(AC) Tornado squadron. It took the decision to move, as part of our plans for Future Force 2020, to a fast jet fleet of Typhoon and Joint Strike Fighter aircraft, and to retain a reduced Tornado fleet in the transitional period. Decisions on the timetable for reducing the Tornado fleet were made subsequently and are adjusted as necessary based on advice. Most recently I decided to retain a third Tornado squadron, including Number II(AC) squadron, for an additional year until March 2016.
more like this

answer text
As part of the phased reduction of the RAF’s Tornado GR4 fleet, aircraft allocated to disbanded squadrons are assessed against a range of criteria including flying hour life consumed, embodied capabilities and future maintenance requirements. Depending on the result of this assessment, aircraft are reallocated to Front Line squadrons, returned to BAE Systems for maintenance or upgrade, placed in storage for future use or selected for spares recovery. Components and equipment for which no further beneficial use can be identified are disposed of through normal channels.

more like this

answer text
Guidelines for classification within European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Regulations and Business Procedure (BP) 1201 focus on equipment risks based on aircraft Flying Hours and not Risk to Life. As recommended by Haddon-Cave, the risk assessment categories in Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Publications (MRP) are for assessment of the Risk to Life resulting from both equipment and operating risks. This allows Duty Holders to assess Risk to Life per annum and tolerability in line with the approach espoused in the Health and Safety Executive publication Reducing Risks Protecting People.
more like this
