A full review of the security arrangements and contract specification forms part of that process. This review is based on advice from the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) as well as on a national standard specification for mail screening (PAS 97:2015).</p><p>Following an incident, the Parliamentary Security Department has recently revised and reissued guidance to Members and staff on what to do following receipt of a suspicious letter or package.</p><p>We do not comment in public on details of security arrangements. The Deputy Director of Security (Delivery) would be happy to discuss these arrangements in more detail with the hon. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/07/2016 answer text <p>The House of Commons procurement policies operate within the parameters set out by the UK Public Contracts Regulations 2015.</p><p>The House has a Sustainable Purchasing Policy which, amongst other things, requires contracts that are particularly suitable for SMEs to be highlighted as so being, contracts to be divided into lots and processes to be as simple and proportionate as possible to encourage SMEs to participate in our competitions. This included police officers, armed police and civilian security officers. One option involves using a SharePoint based system to distribute committee papers and this is due to be tested with a select committee soon.</p><p>Documents for select committees are circulated to committee members electronically, predominantly in PDF format. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/05/2016 answer text <p>The four portraits are located in the following locations:</p><ul><li>The portraits of Diane Abbott and Paul Boateng hang in Portcullis House.</li><li>The portrait of Dr Dadabhoy Naoroji is displayed in the corridor leading to the House of Commons Strangers Gallery.</li><li>The portrait of Baroness Amos hangs in the corridor off Princes Chamber in the House of Lords.</li></ul><p><br>There are approximately 310 painted portraits in the Parliamentary Art Collection.</p><p>The majority of the painted portraits in the Parliamentary Art Collection are historical ones depicting members of the Royal Family and Parliamentarians pre-1900, of whom few were of black, Asian, or minority ethnic (BAME) origin.</p><p>The Speaker’s Advisory Committee on Works of Art is committed to reflecting the diversity of the House today, and to recognising those who have influenced Parliament and contributed to its development in a notable way through the Parliamentary Art Collection. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/05/2016 answer text <p>The Commission has not made a formal assessment of the effectiveness of the Education Service in engaging the attention of children during their visits to Parliament. However, it receives regular updates on the work and reach of the service, and has supported the substantial growth in this area in recent years.</p><p>The Education Service uses a number of techniques to engage students’ attention during visits including story-telling, question and answer, images, audio-visual clips, debating, quizzes and roleplay.</p><p>Visits also make use of interactive and immersive technology as a means to enhance learning. The Education Centre’s Discovery space uses 360° projection and sound technology to immerse students in virtual chambers, historical events and <em>The Story of Parliament</em>, whilst three of the Centre’s learning spaces are equipped with augmented reality experiences, which see Winston Churchill, the Yeoman Usher, Charles I and Queen Victoria ‘come to life’ in virtual environments.</p><p>Voting pods and tablets are used regularly in sessions, and the centre also contains a 3D printer, for printing objects students cannot normally handle or get close to; this is proving particularly effective for tactile learning and Special Educational Needs (SEN) groups.
