answer text
Self-isolation remains an essential tool to reduce the spread of coronavirus. However, the Government recognises the impact self-isolation following a positive case contact is having on individuals, particularly those delivering critical functions. In such circumstances there are a limited number of exemptions to enable named workers to leave self-isolation under specific controls. The criteria for assessing exemptions are set out in the guidance published on GOV.UK.

In addition to the exemption for critical services, daily contact testing is also now available to frontline emergency workers. This includes the Police to mitigate against any potential disruption to key services.

answer text
The coronavirus outbreak has caused enormous disruption to all businesses, public services and to individuals across our nation. The decision whether to impose a Late Night Levy (LNL) is a matter for the relevant local authorities, as is a decision to cease applying the LNL when it comes up for renewal. The LNL is designed to support policing initiatives in the night time economy.

In April 2020 I wrote to chairs of licensing committees in England and Wales advising that licensing authorities have discretion to delay the suspension of a licence for non-payment of the levy, where this is related to Covid-19. This advice was intended to allow businesses to continue selling alcohol until they are able to pay the levy.

Any temporary loss of funding has been at a time when late night premises have been closed or operating under restrictions.
more like this

answer text
There are no plans to make the Covid-19 vaccine compulsory. The decision to do so is a personal one for each of us, including police officers. But we would encourage anyone offered a vaccine to accept it.

For Phase 1 of the vaccine roll-out, the Government has rightly prioritised the elderly, given the disproportionate impact of the virus by age range. The clinically vulnerable, and front-line Health and Social Care staff who care for them, are also being prioritised. Phase 1 also includes police officers and staff who fall into these categories.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) advice for Phase 2 of the vaccination programme sets out that the most effective way to minimise hospitalisations and deaths is to continue to prioritise people by age. This is because age is assessed to be the strongest factor linked to mortality, morbidity and hospitalisations, and because the speed of delivery is crucial, prioritising people by age enables us to operationally vaccinate more people, providing them with protection from Covid-19.

Those over 50, and all adults in an exposure risk group, will then also be eligible for vaccination in the early phase of the programme.
