<p>The Home Secretary maintains regular contact with her French counterpart, Interior Minister Darmanin on small boats crossings and their related issues. The responsibility for asylum seekers and refugees lies with the authorities of the country in which they are present in accordance with their international obligations. France has a fully functioning asylum system and is party to both the ECHR and the Refugee Convention.</p>
