This includes supporting the work of the National Police Chiefs’ Council Metal Crime Steering Group led by the NPCC lead for metal theft, ACC Charlie Doyle. The Metropolitan Police is represented on this group.</p><p>The Home Office provided £177,000 seed corn funding in the 2020/21 financial year to establish the National Infrastructure Crime Reduction Partnership. The Partnership ensures national co-ordination of policing and law enforcement partners to tackle metal theft. The Partnership, facilitates data and intelligence sharing to partners to target offenders, understand emerging trends, and implement crime prevention measures. We know the serious impact that persistent ASB can have on both individuals and the wider community. Last year the <a href="https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1015382/Crime-plan-v10.pdf" target="_blank"><em>Beating Crime Plan</em></a> laid out the Government’s plan for tackling crime and ASB and committed to working with local agencies and partners to drive down ASB using the full range of powers and tools in the<em> ‘2014 Act’</em>.</p><p>The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 provides a range of flexible tools and powers to local agencies to tackle anti-social behaviour. Local areas decide how best to deploy these powers depending on the specific circumstances. The Office for National Statistics annually publishes anti-social behaviour incidents reported to the police by Police Force Area and no further lower level breakdown is currently available.</p><p>Police recorded ASB incidents for the West Midlands were on a steady decline pre-Covid-19 with a 40% fall in 2019-20 when compared with 2016-17. The overall number of ASB incidents in England &amp; Wales also fell (24%) pre-Covid-19 but to a lesser degree than in West Midlands. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/09/2021 answer text <p>The Government’s refugee family reunion policy allows a partner and children under 18 of those granted protection in the UK to join them here, if they formed part of the family unit before the sponsor fled their country. Afghan nationals recognised as refugees or with humanitarian protection in the UK, including those who will be resettled here under the new Afghanistan Citizens’ Resettlement Scheme, can sponsor qualifying family under this route. In the year ending June 2020, over 200 Afghan nationals came to the UK under the family reunion policy, including 130 children.</p><p>There are separate provisions in the Rules to allow extended family to sponsor children to come here where there are serious and compelling circumstances. Refugees can also sponsor adult dependent relatives living overseas to join them where, due to age, illness or disability, that person requires long-term personal care that can only be provided by relatives in the UK.</p><p>Our policy makes clear that there is discretion to grant visas outside the Immigration Rules, which caters for extended family members in exceptional circumstances.</p><p>There are additional safe and legal routes for people to come to the UK should they wish to join family members here, work or study.  They would need to meet the requirements of the relevant Immigration Rule under which they were applying to qualify for a visa.</p> answering member constituency Croydon South answering member printed Chris Philp question first answered 13/09/2021 14:36:08 answering member 4503 label Biography information for Chris Philp

They have explored the different options open to the UK and their effectiveness in the context of both domestic and international law. As stated in my previous response, a person’s age upon arrival to the UK or their nationality are not automatic exceptions to deportation under the UK Borders Act 2007. These may be relevant factors when determining whether an exception applies and an Article 8 claim pursuant to the Immigration Rules. Those deported will have been provided with the opportunity to raise claims and all claims are fully considered and decided upon before deportation, including, where applicable, via the Courts. To obtain this information would require detailed reporting against multiple cost centres and could only be obtained at disproportionate costs.</p><p>However, the Home Office can provide the number of asylum case working staff for each of the last five years. This data can be found in ASY_04 of the published Transparency data:</p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/immigration-and-protection-data-q2-2021" target="_blank">Immigration and protection data: Q2 2021 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)</a></p><p>In support of increasing the number of initial asylum decisions, the Home Office has recruitment strategies in place to increase staffing to more appropriate levels.
