answer text
The Home Office collects data on the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) officers on certified long-term sick leave as at 31 March each year. This can be broken down by those on long-term sick leave as a result of assault, and those on long-term sick leave for other reasons. Long-term sick includes officers on leave for 28 days or more.

The latest published data shows that there were 16 officers (FTE) on long-term sick leave in the Cumbria Constabulary, as at 31 March 2015. None of these were following assaults.

Data on the number of officers on short/medium-term absence due to sickness are published by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary, and show that 16 officers were on short/medium-term sick leave as at 31 March 2015. These data do not identify the reasons for the absence.
more like this

answer text
Like all other local authorities fire and rescue authorities have had to play their part in reducing the national deficit. Fire and rescue services have coped well with savings to date: the numbers of incidents and fire deaths and injuries have all fallen to an historic low. The 2013 Knight Review provided clear evidence of the scope for fire and rescue authorities to make further efficiencies.

The table below shows the funding provided to single-purpose fire and rescue authorities.

Single purpose Fire and Rescue Authorities Funding

2011-12

£0.996 bn

2012-13

£1.014 bn

2013-14

£1.083 bn

2014-15

£1.005 bn

2015-16

£0.917 bn

2016-17

£0.869 bn

County councils that include fire and rescue services will decide for themselves how to fund those services. However, we expect that county councils in this position will ensure that their fire and rescue services are able to maintain the same quality and breadth of services as single purpose authorities.

In 2013-14 the Government introduced a new funding system for local government. Under this system the sector retained 50% of business rates. It is therefore inappropriate to compare these amounts over time due to differences in the way that funding was provided in each year.

For the first time ever, the Government offers the opportunity of financial certainty for fire and rescue authorities, with the offer of a firm four-year settlement in return for robust efficiency plans.

Indicative funding allocations for 2017-18 to 2019-20 can be found at:

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/498722/Key_info_for_local_authorities.xlsx

answer text
Whenever national football or club teams from England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland play a match outside of the UK, an assessment is made as to whether a UK police delegation can be useful to the host nation’s policing operation. However, the decision to request UK police officers rests with the relevant host nation. Similarly whenever national football teams or club teams from England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland host a match against a foreign club or national team, an assessment is made by the police and this will include whether they would welcome support from the relevant police force. Such consideration can also be given to other sporting events, but it is mainly applicable to football matches. We do not hold the specific detail asked for in the question.
more like this

answer text
Resourcing is an operational matter for individual Chief Constables. We have prioritised child sexual abuse as a national threat in the Strategic Policing Requirement to empower police forces to maximise specialist skills and expertise to prevent offending and resolve cases. This means that police forces must have in place the capabilities they need to protect children from sexual abuse.

In 2015/16 the Government provided an additional £10 million to the National Crime Agency to create specialist teams to tackle online child sexual exploitation. We have also made available £1.7 million to fund Operation Hydrant, which coordinates the handling of multiple non-recent child sexual abuse investigations specifically concerning institutions or persons of public prominence, and up to £1.5 million to support regional coordinators and analysts to oversee the implementation of the National Policing Plan for tackling child sexual exploitation.
more like this
