answer text <p>The Government provides cash figures for the UK contribution to the EU budget, through HM Treasury’s annual publication <em>European Union Finances </em>(previously HM Treasury’s<em> Statement on the 19XX Community Budget</em>). The Government do not maintain real price statistics of historical EU contributions.</p><p> </p><p>The Government’s cash figures have been used in the House of Commons Library briefing paper <em>The UK’s contribution to the EU Budget </em>in the calculation to determine the real price equivalents. answer text <p>The Office for Budget Responsibility’s independent forecast has maintained EU contributions past the point of exit in order to produce a fiscally neutral forecast; they have made no assumptions on the outcome of future policy decisions. The funding choices we take after exiting the EU will be based on the UK’s domestic priorities and will also be affected by the then economic environment and the fiscal position. We are determined to secure the very best deal we can for households and businesses in these negotiations and to seize the opportunities ahead by laying the foundations of a stronger, fairer Britain outside the EU.</p> more like this

The totals for net contributions do not account for payments made directly from the EU to private sector bodies.</p><p>All other underlying assumptions used are detailed in the publication.</p> more like this

The EU makes financial commitments each year which are financed through that budget. answer text <p>The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) produces an independent forecast of both UK gross contributions to the EU and contributions net of EU receipts administered by the UK public sector.</p><p> </p><p>The OBR’s latest forecast, at March 2017, puts the UK’s post-rebate gross contribution to the EU across 2017-18 at £15bn. The UK’s receipts administered via government departments are forecast to be £5.1bn.
