<p>We are acutely aware that during armed conflict, civilians often pay a heavy price.
Addressing the humanitarian crisis in Yemen is a priority for the Government. We are
at the forefront of the international response in Yemen as the fifth largest donor
to the humanitarian situation and as the pen-holder on the UN Security Council.</p><p>We
also acknowledge that the conflict has had a disproportionate impact on women and
girls. The incidence of gender based violence has risen by 70% since the start of
the conflict. Women and girls bear the disproportionate brunt of obstacles caused
by protracted displacement, including lack of access to services and civil documentation.
An estimated 76 per cent of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and IDP returnees
are women and children.</p><p>Through the Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF),
we support UN Women initiatives, such as the Yemeni Women Pact, to increase women's
participation in and leadership of official peace processes.</p><p> </p><p> </p>
