Our close relationship with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) allows us to discuss important issues such as human rights and where the UK has cause for concern, we raise these concerns at official and Ministerial level. We have previously raised the case of Ahmed Mansoor with senior Emirati officials in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.</p> more like this

answer text <p>​As of November 2018, we are aware of 107 British nationals in arrest or detention cases in the United Arab Emirates. This can include British nationals in immigration detention, in police custody, on remand awaiting trial, on bail, and sentenced prisoners. We collate detainee statistics twice a year from our case management system records to provide a snapshot of the number of British national arrest/detention cases reported to us.</p><p>Our staff aim to make contact as soon as possible after being told about the arrest or detention of a British national, and then provide assistance according to the individual’s circumstances.</p> more like this
