<p>The total number of reported cases of British nationals alleging torture or mistreatment overseas to consular staff between January and December 2019 will be published in the FCO's 2019 Human Rights and Democracy Report. We follow up with action appropriate to the circumstances of each case where we have the individual's consent. We do not release figures by country as this would risk identifying individuals who do not wish to have their allegations raised."</p>
