<p>The Government remains concerned by the humanitarian emergency in Venezuela and
the consequent migration of millions of Venezuelan people. Minister for the Commonwealth
and UN, Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, discussed this issue with the Trinidad and Tobago
Minister of National Security in January 2019. Our High Commissioner has also raised
on several occasions the need for a process to register incoming Venezuelans with
the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. The Trinidad and Tobago government announced
in April 2019 that it will review its migration policy and legislation and produce
an amnesty plan.</p>
