answer text <p>TechNorth works closely with a range of partners representative of the local digital business infrastructure, including entrepreneurs and investors from digital clusters in Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, Hull and the North East cluster (Newcastle, Sunderland and Tees Valley).</p><p> </p><p>The TechNorth team will coordinate the existing support and expertise across the region as part of Tech City UK's nationwide objectives, to:</p><p>- drive the success of digital entrepreneurs by improving the supply of (and removing barriers to) skills, talent, investment and infrastructure and</p><p>- drive the success of the digital ecosystem and increased connectivity across the UK.</p><p> </p><p>Tech City UK is concluding the process of recruitment for the new Head of TechNorth and other senior roles. answer text <p>Devolution to local areas is important to this Government and we have a proud record - the Localism Act, the creation of Local Enterprise Partnerships, the Local Government Finance Act, and the devolution of at least £12bn through Growth Deals which provide all areas the country to build on their economic potential.</p><p>The Chancellor also announced further devolution to the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, which will benefit both rural and urban areas in West Yorkshire including Colne Valley.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>So far, £7bn has been awarded to Local Enterprise Partnerships through Growth Deals. £83m has been awarded to the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership which includes £11.6m for projects in Shropshire, including £5m for super-fast broadband, £4.2m for the construction of the Oxon Link Road near Shrewsbury, and £2.4m for the Shrewsbury Integrated Transport Package which will upgrade six major junctions to ease congestion in and around the town.</p><p>In the recent Marches Growth Deal Expansion the Government also committed to support the development of a new university college at Shrewsbury, an initiative being supported by a £17m loan from the Public Works Loan Board.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Local Enterprise Partnerships have made good progress in implementing their Growth Deals, supported by Government.</p><p>The Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership has a large portfolio of projects ready to start in 2015.</p><p>Government has allocated £627million to the Leeds City Region Growth Deal, this will leverage £640m of other funding. Over the lifetime of the Deal the Local Enterprise Partnership estimates that up to 10,000 jobs could be created and 2,000 new homes built.</p><p>Government has also agreed longer term funding for the West Yorkshire plus Transport Fund. This could deliver 30 transport schemes worth over £1billion.</p><p>The Chancellor announced the Devolution Deal with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority in last week’s Budget. This will give West Yorkshire new powers over skills, business support and transport.</p><p> </p> more like this

After two successful rounds of City Deals, the Government introduced Growth Deals to ensure that everywhere in England had the opportunity to negotiate for funding and the freedoms and flexibilities needed to drive their local economies.</p><p> </p><p>So far, £7bn has been awarded to Local Enterprise Partnerships through Growth Deals. £77.5m has been awarded to Gloucestershire, including £4.1m for the regeneration of Blackfriars in Gloucester, £4.7m for the Gloucester King’s Quarter Bus Station and £2m for Gloucester South West Bypass.</p> more like this

answer text <p>In 2014, we announced 39 Growth Deals as the first phase of a £12 billion boost to local economies. On 29 January 2015, we announced an expansion to these successful Growth Deals of a further £1 billion.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>For Oxfordshire this will see an extra £9.9m invested between 2016 and 2021. This is in addition to the £108.5m of funding committed by the Government on 7 July 2014.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Last week I announced a £46.1 million extension to the South East LEPs Growth Deal, which brings total Growth Deal investment in the South East to over £488 million. This investment will have a direct and significant impact in Southend and provides for the further expansion of London Southend Airport onto a 55-acre site to create a high end Business Park, 858 homes and up to 2600 new jobs.</p><p> </p><p>This expanded Growth Deal builds on the successes of the Southend City Deal which, is predicted to secure direct business support for over 1,000 businesses.</p> more like this
