Migraine management is identified within the core competencies for the care for people with neurological conditions in the Royal College of General Practitioners’ (RCGP) GP curriculum. Migraines are also identified as an key area of clinical knowledge in the RCGP Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) content guide. The AKT is a summative assessment of the knowledge base that underpins general practice in the United Kingdom within the context of the National Health Service and is a key part of GPs’ qualifying exams. <br></p><p>The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guideline, ‘Headaches: Diagnosis and management of headaches in young people and adults’, published in 2012 and updated in 2015, sets out evidence based best practice for healthcare professionals in the care, treatment and support of people who suffer from migraines.</p><p> </p><p>The usual treatment approaches to migraine are designed to either stop or prevent attacks. Modelling shows that the programme, is cost effective with potential savings to the National Health Service of around £57 million per year after four years, rising to £176 million per year after 15 years. This equates to a cost per Quality Adjusted Life Year of around £3,000, considerably lower than the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence’s threshold. The cost benefits of the programme primarily arise from the opportunity it presents to prevent 1,600 heart attacks and strokes and save at least 650 lives each year. A copy of the Economic Modelling for Vascular Checks is attached.</p><p>The United Kingdom National Screening Committee has not undertaken an assessment of the impact of routine screening for the elderly to prevent deaths due to heart disease. NHS Supply Chain also supports the Department’s Supply Resilience and Emergency Preparedness workstreams.</p><p>Companies which have an innovation that they believe will provide demonstrable benefits to the National Health Service in terms of patient outcomes and/or the future sustainability of the NHS are already being signposted to HeathTech Connect to submit their innovation along with the corresponding evidence to substantiate their claims. In addition to this, NHS Supply Chain, as part of the new operating model, assure that products procured on behalf of the NHS are value for money in terms of formal evaluations to determine the relative costs and benefits of each product. The plan also sets a world-first target to reduce the actual numbers of resistant infections, with the aim to reduce them by 10% by 2025.</p><p>We will achieve our ambitions by adopting a systematic approach to preventing infections, enhancing surveillance and adding Carbapenem resistant Gram-negative infections to the list of notifiable diseases. There will also be enhanced roles for Directors of Infection Prevention and Control, a review of workforce needs and targeted interventions around hand hygiene.</p><p>The NHS Long Term Plan makes the commitment to implement the human health aspects of the UK AMR national action plan. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/06/2019 answer text <p>Our Green Paper ‘Transforming children and young people’s mental health provision: a green paper’ sets out how we plan to increase the availability of support for children and young people, by reaching them through school or college. There are three key proposals:</p><p>- incentivising every school or college to identify and train a senior mental health lead;</p><p>- creating new mental health support teams in and near schools and colleges; and</p><p>- piloting a four-week waiting time to ensure swifter access to specialist NHS mental health services for those who need it.</p><p>In December 2018 we announced the first 25 ‘trailblazer’ sites that will implement the proposals to provide the new schools/college-based service, 12 of which will also pilot a four-week waiting time. This first wave of mental health support teams will be fully operational by the end of 2019, reaching over 1,000 schools and colleges.
