answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/07/2019 answer text <p>The agreement signed between the Department and Amazon is clear that none of the data generated will be shared with third parties; that it will not be used for selling products or making product recommendations to Amazon users; nor is it building any form of health profiles on Amazon customers.</p><p>This is a mutually beneficial collaboration that will enable greater numbers of people to access information accredited by the National Health Service, helping to put people in control of their own healthcare. The information being provided to users of Alexa devices asking questions is already freely available through the NHS website. It is an alternative mechanism for accessing professional NHS-verified health information that is already freely available on the NHS website.</p><p>The service provided by Amazon will not provide any form of diagnosis or advice. It is intended to provide NHS-verified information on the symptoms and treatments for different medical conditions using the exact wording from the NHS website.</p><p>When a response is given by Alexa to a question from a user, it will be preceded with the phrase, “according to the NHS website…”, which clearly differentiates it from any other source of information.</p><p>NHS Digital is working closely with Amazon to assess the effectiveness of the service. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/07/2019 answer text <p>The Department fully understands that maintaining access to hormone replacement therapy (HRT) medications is vitally important to many people in this country.</p><p>The Department has well established processes to manage and mitigate the small number of supply problems that may arise at any one time.</p><p>We are aware of ongoing supply issues with some HRT preparations due to manufacturing delays. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/07/2019 answer text <p>Funding that is made available through the Provider Sustainability Fund is a recurrent part of the NHS Long Term Plan funding settlement.</p><p> </p><p>The way in which the funding is being deployed is however changing and this means it is non-recurrent at the level of individual providers. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/06/2019 answer text <p>The NHS Long Term Plan sets out the National Health Service’s commitment to provide greater access to echocardiography in primary care to improve the early detection of heart valve disease, and advises that people with heart failure and heart valve disease will be better supported by multi-disciplinary teams as part of primary care networks.</p><p>In relation to stethoscope usage, Public Health England has advised that the NHS Health Check does not currently include formal assessment of heart sounds. Therefore, stethoscopes are not used for this purpose in the programme.</p><p>The NHS Health Check is made up of three key components: risk assessment, risk awareness and risk management. During the risk assessment, standardised tests are used to measure key risk factors and establish the individual’s risk of developing cardiovascular disease. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/06/2019 answer text <p>We have seen an improvement in the provider deficit from £991 million in 2017-18 to £827 million.</p><p>We recognise that it is important that the provider sector balances and there is still much more to do. The National Health Service has committed to returning the provider sector to balance, as well as all providers, as part of its NHS Long Term Plan, supported by the new cash terms funding commitment of £33.9 billion by 2023-24.</p><p>It is misleading to infer the financial health of the provider sector from changes in the reported underlying deficit. The purpose of calculating of an underlying deficit is to use as a baseline for planning purposes for individual trusts. Adjustments made to construct this figure include the removal of funding that is recurrent in the national NHS budget (but not for individual trusts), for example the Provider Sustainability Fund, which grew from £1.8 billion in 2017-18 to £2.45 billion in 2018-19.
