<p>Tables showing the number of people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes who were admitted
to hospital for a major, and minor amputation in each clinical commissioning group
(CCG) in each of the five financial years from 2012-13 to 2016-17 are attached. Diabetes
type is reported as ‘type 1’ and ‘type 2 and other’ within the National Diabetes Audit.</p><p>
</p><p>The cause of the amputation is not recorded in the data, so we are unable to
categorically state that the amputations have been carried out as a result of diabetes.</p><p>
</p><p>Data is only shown for a CCG when more than five people with diabetes were
admitted to hospital for a minor, and major amputation. This means the overall number
of amputations shown for a CCG may be greater than the figures shown for individual
years.</p>
