answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/07/2017 answer text <p>The Improving Quality in Physiological Services (IQIPS) accreditation scheme is run by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). The process of accreditation provides an independent assessment that a service meets the accreditation standards.</p><p> </p><p>It is the responsibility of the service to ensure that they conform to the standard before application to UKAS for accreditation. There is a pre-registration process within the scheme that enables all services to be able to do an effective gap analysis so that they should be at a point of conforming to the standard on making an application to UKAS. If during an assessment mandatory findings are raised which show non-conformity to any part of the standard then the service agrees appropriate improvement actions with the UKAS team to rectify these and prevent re-occurrence.</p><p> </p><p>The UKAS team base their recommendation for accreditation on the findings raised relating to the conformity to the standard, risk and whether the agreed improvement actions are appropriate and can be achieved within a three month close-out period. Therefore any findings raised must be cleared by the organisation if a positive recommendation for accreditation is to be granted.</p><p> </p><p>In <em>Commissioning Services for People with Hearing Loss: A framework for clinical commissioning groups</em>, published in July 2016, NHS England strongly encourages clinical commissioning groups to expect providers to have completed the IQIPS self-assessment tool and applied for accreditation with UKAS, and achieve accreditation within the duration of their contract.</p><p> </p><p>UKAS are supporting the NHS England business objective to increase the use of accreditation, and information about those services which have achieved accreditation is not held by the Department or NHS England, but is publicly available on the UKAS website.</p><p> </p><p>Information on clinical contracts is not held centrally by NHS England.</p> answering member printed Baroness Chisholm of Owlpen grouped question UIN HL887 HL889 HL890 HL891 question first answered 20/07/2017 14:50:44 answering member 4330 label Biography information for Baroness Chisholm of Owlpen

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/09/2017 answer text <p>Tazocin is a specific brand of the antibiotic piperacillin-tazobactam, of which several generic formulations are also authorised for use. It is indicated for the treatment of a range of severe and complicated infections. As with all medicines, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has fully evaluated the safety, quality and efficacy of Tazocin, and generic versions of piperacillin-tazobactam, and the balance of benefits and risks is favourable. The possible side effects are listed in full in the product information for healthcare professionals and patients.</p><p> </p><p>Information is also given on how the medicine should be administered. Piperacillin-tazobactam is administered as an infusion, however, Tazocin and generic formulations of piperacillin-tazobactam have different compatibilities with other medicines given at the same time. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/09/2017 answer text <p>The Implementation Plan for the 2020 Challenge on Dementia 2020 highlights our continuing global leadership role on dementia, stressing the importance of working closely with our international partners, including the World Health Organization, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the World Dementia Council and countries within the G7, European Union and beyond.</p><p> </p><p>At a summit in December 2013, the then G8 countries agreed a new international approach to dementia research to realise the ambition to identify a cure or disease modifying therapy by 2025 and to increase collectively and significantly their funding for dementia research.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has doubled research spending on dementia, with a commitment to maintain this level of spending at £60 million a year to 2020, with an ambition for overall spending on research from all sectors to double by 2025. Much of this investment is in research to better understand the nature of dementia, to inform development of future treatments and ways to prevent the onset of the condition.</p><p> </p><p>The Government remains committed to tackling dementia domestically and internationally. The NIHR does not usually ring-fence funds for particular topics. Awards are made in open competition on the basis of importance of topics to patients and heath and care services, value for money, and scientific quality judged through peer review. The amount of NIHR funding in topic areas depends on the volume and quality of scientific activity. This includes research on dementia care, and applied biomedical research in dementia. In 2014/15 (the most recent year for which a breakdown is available) total Department funding for dementia related research was £31.5 million.
