answer text <p>The Department does <ins class="ministerial">not </ins>hold this information.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We take the issue of coercion seriously and staff working in abortion clinics are experienced and highly skilled in discussing sensitive issues with women and identifying whether there is any coercion or other risks to the woman.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Women who present for an abortion will always have the opportunity to speak to a health professional on their own at some point during the consultation. Pathways should be in place to refer women to specialised services if coercion is identified.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The NHS Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme (FASP) recommends that screening is offered to all pregnant women in England to assess the risk of the baby being born with Down’s syndrome or a number of fetal anomalies (structural abnormalities with how the fetus has developed).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Where a screening test result suggests there is a higher risk of a baby being born with Down’s syndrome, or a structural fetal anomaly is suspected, a further discussion with an experienced and knowledgeable health professional is recommended to discuss the offer of diagnostic testing. When the woman wishes to take up diagnostic testing, either a chorionic villus sampling or an amniocentesis (dependant on the gestation of the pregnancy) will be performed. Where a fetal abnormality is confirmed following diagnostic testing, the programme recommends referral to an appropriate health professional for further discussion regarding the options for pregnancy management.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>FASP aims to ensure that there is equal access to uniform and quality-assured screening across England and that women are provided with high quality information so they can make an informed choice about their screening options and pregnancy.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The UK National Screening Committee and FASP produce a number of leaflets and resources for both women and health professionals that clearly explain the screening options available and support the opportunity for women to make an informed choice as to whether to accept or decline the screening offered.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>

answer text <p>Improving dementia care is a priority for the Government, and the Prime Minister. On the 28 February, my Rt. hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Health announced his ambition for improving dementia care and support for people with dementia, their family and carers.</p><p> </p><p>NHS England has identified around £90 million annually that is available nationally to the National Health Service to support timely diagnosis of dementia and to ensure that by 2015, two-thirds of people with dementia have a diagnosis and receive appropriate support following diagnosis.</p><p> </p><p>The Department has committed to double funding for research for dementia by 2015.</p><p> </p><p>The Department has also provided major funding to improve dementia care for the following:</p><p> </p><p>- Dementia Friends programme, £2.4 million funded by Cabinet Office and the Department;</p><p>- Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) £54 million in April 2012 and £108 million in April 2013;</p><p>- Dementia Friendly Environments Capital Fund £50 million, October 2012;</p><p>- Dementia Awareness Campaign £3.2 million, September 2012;</p><p>- Dementia Workforce Development Fund for Social Care Staff (administered by Skills for Care) £2.4 million July 2012. In addition to this we have funded further Workforce Projects to the value of £1,640,000 since 2012-13 (£540,000 in 2012-13, £700,000 in 2013-14 and £400,000 planned for 2014-15);</p><p>- Breakthrough Innovation Challenge Prize £1 million announced, June 2012; and</p><p>- Social Services support to Memory Services £10 million, September 2011.</p><p> </p>

answer text <p>The Department is working with a number of organisations including the Campaign to End Loneliness and the Royal Voluntary Service to promote ways to tackle loneliness and the Silverline who provide a helpline offering support to older people.</p><p>A measure of social isolation will be published this year as part of the Adult Social Care Outcomes Framework to raise visibility and to support local authorities to address the issue of social isolation in their local communities. This measure will be shared with the Public Health Outcomes Framework.</p><p>We are reforming social care and the Care Bill places more emphasis on prevention – preventing, reducing and delaying crisis, tackling loneliness and isolation is a key part of prevention.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Through the Mandate we have asked NHS England to make measurable progress towards making our health service among the best in Europe at supporting people with ongoing health problems, such as rheumatoid arthritis, to live healthily and independently, with much better control over the care they receive.</p><p> </p><p>In 2009, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published clinical guidance on the management of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in adults, which set outs best practice on the diagnosis, care, treatment and support of patients. answer text <p><em>Improving Outcomes: A Strategy for Cancer</em>, published in January 2011, committed over £450 million over the four years up to 2014/15 to achieve earlier diagnosis of cancer. The earlier diagnosis money also included central funding for Be Clear on Cancer campaigns.</p><p> </p><p>The Department provided £2.5 million in 2010/11 to support 18 local awareness campaigns, including seven intended to raise awareness of breast cancer in women over 70. Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Network area was one of the pilot areas. In 2014, we funded a national campaign on breast cancer in women over 70 at a cost of around £2.2 million.</p><p> </p> more like this
