answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/05/2024 answer text <p>On the number and proportion of PIP claimants in employment, I refer the honourable member to the answer given on the 2<sup>nd</sup> of May to PQ <a href="https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-questions/detail/2024-04-29/24056" target="_blank">24056.</a></p><p> </p><p>The Department has made no assessment of the potential impact of Personal Independence Payments on trends in the number of claimants (a) in and (b) seeking employment.</p><p> </p><p>Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is designed to help with the extra costs arising from long-term ill health and disability, and is paid regardless of income and irrespective of whether someone is in work. The ESA permitted work rules strike a balance between encouraging claimants to build their confidence, undertake some part-time paid work, and plan a gradual move to sustained employment, while continuing to receive benefit. Which can include essential Maths, English and Digital Skills, and other vocational opportunities such as Sector-based Work Academy Programmes (SWAPs).</p><p>Whilst periods of training are generally expected to be directly linked to customer’s work search goals, we have increased the amount of time Universal Credit customers in the All Work Related Requirements conditionality group can take part in full time, work-related training for up to 16 weeks in Great Britain.</p><p>Where a longer period of training is required to equip someone with the skills for work whilst also maintaining employment, other options are available including apprenticeships. When a customer first applies for CMS they are enrolled on the online service which provides them the ability to update their information and request changes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The majority of our customers make use of these online services to effectively meet their needs every day, though we are actively engaged in improving the service further and increasing customer take up.</p><p> </p><p>We recognise some customers need alternative methods to contact us or choose to call us, and on occasion call wait times on our inbound phone lines can be longer than we would like. Speed to answer is continually reviewed throughout the working day and operational resource is regularly reviewed and flexed to minimise excessive wait times.</p><p> </p><p>Over the coming year we will increase customer education on what can be raised and progressed using our online services and encourage more customers to make use of this as the primary channel for their CMS enquiries. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/02/2024 answer text <p>Attendance Allowance is intended to help those with a severe disability who have long term care or supervision needs which arise after reaching State Pension age. It has never included a mobility component, and so cannot be used in payment for a leased Motability scheme vehicle.
