answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/07/2017 answer text <p>All Assessment Centre buildings [operated by Independent Assessment Services (an Atos company), Capita, and the Centre for Health and Disability Assessments (CHDA)] are compliant with the Equality Act 2010 and are wheelchair accessible.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The assessment providers are required to ensure that the needs of all claimants are considered, including proximity to public transport routes and access to suitable parking. Before attending an assessment, claimants are given the opportunity to alert the assessment provider to any additional requirements they may have. Contracted assessment providers then provide more detailed guidance to healthcare professionals carrying out assessments on how to raise issues on suicidal thoughts during the assessment.</p><p> </p><p>Alongside this guidance, healthcare professionals are given specific training in assessing individuals with mental health conditions. If there is any indication that a claimant has suicidal thoughts or intentions, healthcare professionals are trained to explore the person’s circumstances carefully. PIP has an on-going continuous improvement plan in place. Identifying opportunities for claimants to provide the ‘right’ evidence at the ‘right’ time, enhancing the quality of the decision making process.</p><p> </p><p>Where the claimant has not provided all the information required to determine their award we proactively seek this information from them or a third party.</p><p> </p><p>Once an award for ESA has been made we select the quickest method of payment available to ensure that any payment due is paid to the claimant as quickly as possible.
