answer text <p>Our priority throughout this health emergency continues to be to protect the public and our assessment providers’ staff, while ensuring people get the benefits they are entitled to quickly and safely. Face-to-face assessments remain suspended while we review what activity we can gradually start reintroducing in line with the latest public health advice. We will confirm next steps as soon as possible.</p><p> </p><p>In the meantime, for claimants with the most serious or terminal conditions, claims continue to be processed and decisions made as normal. We are actively considering how to deal with those cases not currently being processed.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) provides a minimum level of income for employees when they are off work sick. SSP should not be looked at in isolation. Where an employee’s income is reduced while off work sick and they require further financial support, for example where they are not eligible for SSP, they may be able to claim Universal Credit and new style Employment and Support Allowance, depending on individual circumstances.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p><strong>Background</strong></p><p>SSP is paid at a flat level of £95.85 per week.</p><p>Where an individual receives both SSP and Universal Credit, SSP will be taken into account when calculating the Universal Credit payment.</p><p>An estimated 2 million individuals do not qualify for SSP because they earn below the Lower Earnings Limit (£120 per week).</p><p>From 28 September 2020 a new £500 Test and Trace Support payment will be introduced for working people who are on low incomes and cannot work from home who are required by NHS Test and Trace to remain at home to help stop the spread of the virus.</p>

answer text <p>We continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 on disabled people and those with health conditions using a range of sources. There will however be a period until the data needed to fully assess the impact becomes available.</p><p> </p><p>The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is publishing a rolling programme of data and articles relating to the social and economic impacts of COVID-19, with specific outputs on disabled people in Great Britain.</p><p> </p><p>The ONS also publishes quarterly statistics on the labour market status of disabled people.</p><p> </p><p>The Department for Work and Pensions publishes statistics annually on the employment of disabled people. The first report was published in March 2020, including data from the Labour Force Survey, Annual Population Survey and Understanding Society.</p><p> </p><p>Research into the long-term health symptoms and impacts of COVID-19 and the number of people likely to be experiencing them is ongoing.</p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p>
