answer text <p><strong> </strong></p><p>Network Rail is conducting a study to assess the potential for large scale renewable energy generation across its estate. The long-term aim of the project is to see Network Rail generating renewable electricity for both train traction and other uses.</p><p> </p><p>The Department for Transport recently funded a demonstrator project that has connected 100 solar panels to the Wessex route’s traction system, with energy from the panels set to power signalling and lights.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) does not conduct roadside spot checks on lorries, solely for emissions. The DVSA does conduct roadside mechanical spot checks on lorries, which include a check for emissions control equipment (cheat devices). Over the last three years the DVSA has carried out the following roadside mechanical spot checks on lorries:<br></p><p>2016/2017 – 110,570</p><p>2017/2018 – 108,050</p><p>2018/2019 – 95,280</p><p> </p><p>The number of checks has reduced year-on-year because the DVSA now carries out targeted enforcement of seriously and serially non-compliant vehicles. Targeted enforcement allows compliant operators to conduct their business without expecting their vehicles to be subject to random checks.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Disability awareness and equality training can provide taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) drivers with the skills, knowledge and confidence to give disabled passengers the assistance they need. I encourage all licensing authorities to use their existing powers to require drivers to undertaken this in advance of its inclusion in national minimum standards in licensing.</p><p> </p><p>As stated in the Government response to the report by the Chair of the Task and Finish Group on Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Licensing, we will bring forward legislation when Parliamentary time allows.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Highways England's proposals for improving the A303 between Amesbury and Berwick Down have been fully assessed. This includes extensive archaeological studies and assessments to provide evidence of the benefits that the scheme would deliver for the World Heritage Site.</p><p> </p><p>The scheme proposals are currently being examined by a panel of independent planning inspectors. They will report their findings and recommendations to the Secretary of State before he makes a decision on whether to grant development consent.</p> more like this
