answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/05/2019 answer text <p>Neither the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) nor the Department can offer any financial assistance to operators whose vessels may be affected by these increased safety measures. It is not normal practice for the Government to compensate individuals or companies for changes brought about by enhancements in safety legislation. To do so would set a challenging precedent.</p><p>I have asked that the MCA look to achieve a fair balance between proportionality for operators and public safety. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/04/2019 answer text <p>The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) consulted upon an Impact Assessment (IA) during a public consultation which ran from 6 November 2018 to 29 January 2019. Consultees were invited to comment on the validity of the analysis in the IA and encouraged to provide information that would help to strengthen this. Anyone who subscribes to notifications of MCA consultations via the “Policy Papers and Consultations” page of GOV.UK will be notified of this and other consultations issued by the MCA, by email alert or RSS feed depending on their selection.</p><p> </p><p>Additionally, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) will promulgate the consultation through the main industry safety groups, and other interested parties whose details are held on a notification list for domestic passenger vessels subject matter. This includes operators of older and newer vessels.</p><p> </p><p>The last occasion was on 4 April 2019 at a London Operators meeting.
