<p>The previous Government announced its intention to bring forward legislation to
ban the use of tyres aged 10 years and over on HGVs, heavy trailers, buses, coaches
and minibuses in February 2019. A statutory consultation on legislative proposals,
which concluded on 1 September 2019, received more than 1100 responses reflecting
a wide variety of views.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is committed to improving road
safety. The Department for Transport is analysing the consultation responses and finalising
the regulatory impact assessment. We expect to publish the conclusions of the consultation
this Spring.</p>
