UK Export Finance’s recently launched enhanced overseas investment insurance can also protect UK firms investing abroad. As we leave the EU, we will continue to help firms from across the UK to grow and benefit from the export and investment opportunities in new and existing markets.</p><p>The UK intends to become an independent member of the Government Procurement Agreement (GPA) once we leave the EU, which will give UK companies guaranteed access to Government contracts overseas. This is available to view on GREAT.gov.uk which is promoted nationally.</p><p>In addition, the North East benefits from participation in the specific DIT Northern Powerhouse (NPH) trade missions programme. The DIT North East team work closely with northern organisations and the UK’s global HMG network to assist companies who are participating in any trade mission, either NPH or national. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/11/2017 answer text <p>The Department for International Trade (DIT) conducts a wide range of engagement with businesses in a range of fora, including regular meetings with the major trade bodies and representative groups across business sectors, to ensure that it maintains effective engagement on sectoral and country issues. DIT recently convened the Board of Trade to engage across the UK and ensure the benefits of trade are enjoyed across the UK, with advice from representatives of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Department also ensures it has a comprehensive understanding of sectoral and geographic issues through its sector teams, Geographical Hubs and network of 177 international posts; and relationships with individual firms. To further strengthen the international perspective the Department is appointing nine Trade Commissioners.
