SID does not differentiate between DFID’s spend in the West Bank and Gaza.</p><p>The UK provided more than £17 million in immediate humanitarian assistance for those affected by the Gaza conflict in the summer of 2014. In October 2014, the UK pledged a further £20 million in early recovery assistance at the Gaza Reconstruction Conference in Cairo, including support for cash assistance to Palestinian refugees, mine removal and medical treatment. The UK has disbursed this pledge in its entirety. As a result of electricity shortages some PMDP beneficiaries have had to cease operations and others have responded by taking actions such as adjusting working hours, operating below capacity and using more expensive sources of electricity such as generators. We have encouraged the PA to ensure their policy in Gaza does not unnecessarily impact the civilian population. We urge all the parties to find a sustainable solution.
