The UK Government has used and reported on the Guttmacher Institute estimates in our Single Departmental Plan Family Planning sector page since July 2018.</p><p> </p><p>DFID’s bilateral and multi-country programmes take an integrated approach in order to meet a wide range of women’s reproductive health needs. For example, providing a woman with holistic care for gender-based violence, HIV counselling, safe-abortion care and information on family planning. Because of the integrated nature of this work, it is not possible to provide a break-down of funding on safe abortion services alone. It is clear however that the world is not on track to avoid dangerous climate change and environmental damage. The Secretary of State wants to see what more we can do with the UK’s aid budget and how we can encourage others to take more action. In Mozambique, which has suffered the worst effects, we have supported the provision of emergency shelter, health and sanitation to the worst-affected populations with an emergency grant of £3m; we are now assessing options for further assistance. In Comoros the UK does not have a permanent presence and we are therefore deferring to partners. The main platform for relief has been the UN CERF Facility, to which the UK is the largest donor. The UK is clear that the best way to avoid abortion is through giving women information and contraception, so they can decide whether, when and how many children to have. Therefore, the primary aim and vast majority of our investment in reproductive health is to increase uptake of voluntary family planning, which helps reduce demand for abortion.</p><p> </p><p>The UK funds the International Planned Parenthood Federation to work in developing countries, rather than the Planned Parenthood Federation of America which founded, but is now separate from, the Guttmacher Institute. Using existing crisis mechanisms, both countries’ governments have led on the preparedness and response. The UK has not received any formal requests for support from either Government.</p><p> </p><p>No discussions have been held between the International Development Secretary and the Government of Bangladesh in response to this situation. The DFID Bangladesh team was, however, in close contact with the Government during and immediately following Cyclone Fani. Our support for the economic development agenda includes part-funding the IMF’s technical assistance to The Gambia on revenue mobilisation, public financial management, monetary policy, financial sector regulation and national statistics, as well as our core contributions to the World Bank and African Development Bank’s work. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/05/2019 answer text <p>We are acutely aware of the difficult operating environment humanitarian organisations face delivering life-saving assistance in Yemen. As a result we only channel support through organisations with a strong record of delivering and monitoring assistance, such as UN agencies and international NGOs.</p><p>To identify the most vulnerable, UN agencies use a range of tools such as household level assessments. Some, like the World Food Programme, use technology such as biometric verification to confirm that those most in need are being reached.</p><p>Through UK diplomatic channels we press authorities to facilitate aid delivery. This can include getting visas issued or travel permission granted for certain areas.</p><p>Earlier this year the UK brought together heads of UN agencies and lead donors to determine how to better coordinate on the ground to deliver the right interventions at the right time to the most vulnerable.
