answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/04/2018 answer text <p>The Secretary of State has had no specific discussions with the World Bank about investing in local, clean and renewable energy for poor communities.</p><p> </p><p>However, the UK is using its influence as a major shareholder to encourage the World Bank to step up its support for developing countries to invest in renewable energy. We do so in high level meetings, through our interventions in board discussions of the Climate Change Action Plan as well as in discussions on specific project plans to target cases where this is the most cost effective option for countries to expand their energy supply. The UK contributes to the World Bank’s work in this area through its core funding, as well as partnerships including the Energy Management Assistance Programme (ESMAP), the Climate Investment Funds and the Global Environment Facility. The UK strongly supports the World Bank’s work to increase access to cleaner, more efficient cooking and heating solutions, which now stretches across 15 countries with regional programmes in Asia, Africa and Central America.</p><p> </p><p>The World Bank committed to 28% of its financial support being climate related by 2020 and to achieving a number of goals, including on renewable energy, in its Climate Change Action Plan 2016 – 2020. The UK raises human rights and the rights of minorities in Pakistan on a regular basis at the highest levels and we ensure our development assistance targets the poor, regardless of race, religion, gender, social background or nationality. The UK funded education programmes in Pakistan support the implementation of Pakistan’s 2006 reformed curriculum, which teaches religious tolerance and respect for diversity. The UK Government has concerns that the island may not provide safe accommodation for Rohingya refugees and we have shared these concerns with the Government of Bangladesh. We will continue to do so, including in international meetings. The UK Government has had no involvement in developing plans for the proposed relocation of refugees to the island. We continue to work with the Government of Bangladesh and our humanitarian partners to further understand this proposal and its suitability. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/04/2018 answer text <p>Flights are activated for lifesaving medical emergencies only, but the St Helena Government’s (SHG) Health Directorate will where possible send other urgent medical referrals on the same flight to maximise value for money. In 2016/17, there were 5 medical evacuation flights (transporting 9 patients) at a cost to the SHG of £203,160. In 2017/18, there were 8 medical evacuation flights (transporting 13 patients) costing £406,820.</p><p> </p><p>Urgent lifesaving medical evacuations were not possible until the airport opened in St Helena. The first medical evacuation flight was on 3 June 2016. Before then, the island relied primarily on the Royal Mail Ship St Helena to get patients off the island for medical treatment. DFID’s funding in Syria is allocated flexibly in order to allow our humanitarian partners to respond to emerging spikes in need.</p><p> </p><p>We do not allocate funding directly to Syrian NGOs, but many of our partners work with such groups on the ground.</p><p> </p><p>DFID-funded partners are supporting people displaced from Eastern Ghouta in both Rural Damascus and Idlib.
