<p>Due to the severity and protracted nature of the food security crisis in South
Sudan, DFID has signed multi-year agreements with the World Food Programme and the
International Committee of the Red Cross. This is a cost-effective way of providing
emergency food assistance which allows us to reach more people. This year, UK funds
have supported between 1.3 and 1.9 million people per month. The UK will continue
to be vocal in lobbying the Government of South Sudan and others on facilitating humanitarian
access for aid agencies.</p>
