<p>The Preventing Maternal Deaths programme aims to increase access to family planning
services, give women and girls more control over their lives, and reduce maternal
deaths from unsafe abortion. Where national policies on abortion contribute to high
levels of maternal death, our programme implementing partners may seek to raise awareness
of these issues and support local efforts to achieve reform aimed at saving maternal
lives. It is not possible to disaggregate spend on these activities specifically.</p><p>Since
2011, DFID has provided £99.8 million to the overall PMD programme which works across
