answer text I am very clear that every pound of UK aid should go on saving and improving the lives of the poorest people in the world. All DFID projects are measured against a robust monitoring framework to ensure they remain cost effective. DFID also supports other aid spending departments, who are responsible for ensuring value for money and effective monitoring of their own aid spend. more like this

answer text
The full implications of the reinstated and expanded Mexico City policy on global funding for the HIV response are not yet clear, but we are closely following developments. DFID will consider the implications with our offices, with UK civil society and with donors. The UK has made a £1.1 billion pledge to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria for the 5th replenishment 2017-2019, increased from £800m for the 4th replenishment. This will boost funding for HIV through the Global Fund and will support the firm commitment to end the AIDS epidemic as a public health threat by 2030.
more like this

It is enshrined in law and the Government has been unequivocal that we will continue to honour that promise, including reaffirmation by the Prime Minister on 14 December. Alongside our world-class diplomacy commitments and spending two per cent of our GDP on defence, upholding our manifesto commitments on UK aid is vital to securing Britain’s place in the world, helping those less fortunate than ourselves, and exporting economic prosperity, security and stability in the national interest.
more like this
