answer text <p>My Department works to prevent and respond to violence against children across a wide range of humanitarian and development programmes. For example, we support the “No Lost Generation Initiative” where the UK is funding education and psychosocial support for Syrian children to protect them from violence, abuse and exploitation.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>To ensure lasting impact we seek to work closely with other Governments. This includes programmes such as our £35 million investment in ending FGM, through which we collaborate closely with 17 partner countries and UN agencies to end this practice. The UK is one of the largest Government donors to UNICEF, the lead UN agency on violence against children. In addition, we fund a range of other global organisations including Save the Children and World Vision, whose work includes ending violence against children.</p> more like this

answer text <p>DFID works across government to contribute to the overall HMG response to these issues and works closely with international partners, including the World Bank and UN agencies. For example, DFID is helping shape the EU’s development spending to effectively address the root causes of migration across Africa and the Middle East. We are also providing technical expertise through the World Bank in Libya to contribute to the political settlement process and are leading the £125 million DFID funded Arab Partnership Economic Programme Facility (APEF). This programme - led by multilateral partners including the World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank and Islamic Development Bank – is helping build more inclusive economies and generate more jobs and opportunities across the region.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK is helping developing world countries collect more tax, for example through DFID-funded HMRC teams working in Pakistan and several other countries, and we are ensuring developing countries are participating in international processes, for example they are directly involved in the G20/OECD Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) process and efforts by international organisations to produce practical toolkits to help developing countries implement new BEPS standards. This system makes best use of our business case process to ensure we support projects which provide best value for money whilst maximising results.
