<p>In Syria, we deliver basic governance by supporting local councils in moderate opposition areas to deliver basic services in response to needs identified by their communities. In 2016, UK support helped local councils provide over 2.3 million Syrians with improved infrastructure; including new roads, electricity grids and waste collection services.</p>
