<p>Taxis are booked in line with the Department’s expenses policy and are claimed
via a manual expenses process. This information is not distinguishable within the
central financial system.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Some First Class train travel
may also be claimed via manual expenses and is not included in the information below.
The Department for Exiting the European Union always seeks to achieve value for money
for the taxpayer and has therefore adopted a policy where, by default, all rail journeys
should be Standard Class. First Class tickets are only permitted if they are cheaper
than Standard Class tickets or in certain other limited circumstances.</p><p><strong>
</strong></p><p>Prior to Quarter 1 (April) 2017, the information was released by the
Cabinet Office in answer to written parliamentary question UIN 121021 as the Department
for Exiting the European Union used the Cabinet Office travel contract and system.</p><p><strong>
