answer text <p>The UK Government is firmly committed to maintaining the Common Travel Area (CTA) and to protecting the rights enjoyed by UK and Irish nationals when in each other’s state. <br><br>The Joint Report recognises that the UK and Ireland can continue to make arrangements between themselves relating to the CTA. The Commission’s draft Withdrawal Agreement Treaty text builds on that agreement, confirming that the UK and Ireland can continue to work together as part of these arrangements. <br><br>We are determined to ensure that all of the commitments on Northern Ireland/Ireland in the Joint Report are turned into legally binding text.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We continue to work closely with ministers and officials from all departments, including the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, to further our preparations for exit from and new partnership with the EU. The Secretary of State continues to have regular conversations with Cabinet colleagues on all aspects of exiting the EU, including on agriculture policy.</p><p> </p><p>All ministers are clear that leaving the EU means leaving the Common Agricultural Policy, and making our own decisions for our own farmers’ benefit for the first time in around half a century.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We have reached a reciprocal agreement with the EU, which safeguards the rights of EU citizens living in the UK and UK nationals living in the EU.</p><p> </p><p>This agreement, highlighted green in the Withdrawal Agreement legal text, means citizens resident before the end of the implementation period will be able to continue living their lives broadly as they do now.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is now focusing on the successful domestic implementation of the agreement. We are also seeking further details on the steps Member States are taking to protect the status of UK nationals resident in the EU.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Prime Minister reaffirmed her commitments to the Northern Ireland and Ireland border in her speech at Mansion House, recognising the unique circumstances in Northern Ireland, and commitment to avoiding a hard border.</p><p> </p><p>The Joint Report also made clear that it is our intention to avoid a hard border and any physical infrastructure or related checks and controls between Northern Ireland and Ireland.</p><p> </p><p>We have pledged to translate all of the commitments made in the Joint Report we published with the EU Commission in December into a legally binding Withdrawal Agreement. This includes all of those on Northern Ireland and Ireland. We remain absolutely committed to doing so. We have always been clear that we will not agree anything that threatens the constitutional or economic integrity of the UK.</p><p> </p><p>We recognise the unique economic circumstances of Northern Ireland. Last summer we published a trade data and statistics paper alongside the Northern Ireland and Ireland position paper.</p><p> </p>

answer text <p>On Thursday 26 April I facilitated an oil and gas roundtable discussion at Oil and Gas UK’s Aberdeen offices as part of a broader set of meetings I attended along side the Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury. It was useful to be able to update the sector on developments since my previous visit in July 2017, when I met a similar group of sector representatives.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>These meetings have enabled me to keep them up to date with progress with negotiations and to hear first-hand industry’s concerns and priorities in relation to EU Exit.</p> more like this

Under the agreement, the common fisheries policy, including arrangements on the management and access of the six-nautical-miles and 12-nautical miles fishing zones, will continue to apply during the duration of the implementation period.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>By December 2020 we will be negotiating fishing opportunities for 2021 as an independent coastal state completely outside the Common Fisheries Policy.</p><p> </p> more like this
