answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/10/2019 answer text <p>The Prime Minister has negotiated a new deal which would ensure that the UK leaves the EU in an orderly and friendly way.</p><p>However, the Government is also well prepared for a no deal scenario. The Treasury has made over £8.3 billion available to prepare for Brexit, including £2.1 billion in August this year to increase preparations for leaving without a deal.</p><p>The food industry is experienced in dealing with scenarios that can affect food supply, from adverse weather damaging crops in other countries to transport issues abroad. The Government has been meeting weekly with industry and retailers to make sure we are prepared for all exit scenarios.</p><p>The Government remains committed to providing support to those who need it most, and the national benefit system will continue to provide a strong safety net, delivering over £200 billion in support this year. In particular, the Government continues to spend over £95 billion a year on welfare benefits. These talks explored aspects of the Withdrawal Agreement and the Political Declaration and sought to reach a compromise, but at the time, this was unsuccessful. This is why we have put forward a serious offer to the EU. It is a fair and reasonable compromise for all sides that respects the referendum. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/07/2019 answer text <p>Leaving the EU with a deal remains our priority, but as a responsible Government we've been preparing for nearly three years to minimise disruption in the event of no deal.</p><p>We have over 300 work streams looking at specific no deal plans across a range of sectors and these are well advanced. There is still some work to be done but departments are making sensible decisions about prioritisation.</p><p>Departments report progress delivering each workstream on a regular basis. DExEU aggregates the cross-Government picture of readiness and provides regular updates to Ministers. This allows for the swift resolution of barriers to improve the Government’s overall preparedness for exit.</p><p>As you might expect, these aggregate assessments of Government preparedness are exceptionally sensitive.
