answer text <p>The European Union (Withdrawal) Bill will convert the existing body of EU environmental and animal welfare law into United Kingdom law. The Government has made it clear that we intend to retain our high existing standards of animal welfare once we have left the EU. We have some of the highest animal welfare standards in the world and we intend us to remain world leaders in the future. Leaving the EU provides us with an opportunity to develop gold standard policies on animal welfare.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The government intends to retain our existing high standards of animal welfare once we have left the European Union. Defra is exploring how the principles of Article 13 of the Treaty of the Functioning of the European Union can apply in the United Kingdom after we have left the European Union. Currently the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill will convert the existing body of direct European Union animal welfare law into United Kingdom law, and this European Union law takes into account the principles of Article 13.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Global food security is dependent on a number of factors including increasing production sustainably, reducing waste and ensuring open markets around the world to facilitate trade.</p><p> </p><p>The UK currently has a high degree of food security as shown by the 2010 UK Food Security Assessment. This is a comprehensive piece of work, covering all aspects of food security, including international trade and global resource sustainability.
