answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/02/2019 answer text <p>The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), under which the Aichi biodiversity targets were adopted, has been extended to six UK Overseas Territories (OTs). As part of that, OTs are required to demonstrate that they have the capacity to work towards implementing the CBD, including having sufficient funds for the purposes of conservation and sustainable use in line with the Aichi targets. As such, no separate estimate has been made by Defra to determine the specific level of funding required to meet the targets across the UK OTs.</p><p> </p><p>However, in order to support OTs to implement a range of environmental multilateral environmental agreements, including the CBD, Defra has established funds such as Darwin Plus, which is the main source of funds for biodiversity in the OTs. Darwin Plus is also known as ‘The Overseas Territories Environment Climate Fund’. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/02/2019 answer text <p>The Government has adopted ambitious, legally binding international targets to reduce emissions of five of the most damaging air pollutants (fine particulate matter, ammonia, nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide, non-methane volatile organic compounds) by 2020 and 2030.</p><p> </p><p>We have also put in place a £3.5 billion plan to reduce harmful emissions from road transport. Local authorities have been granted funding to undertake air quality improvement.</p><p> </p><p>We published our new and world leading Clean Air Strategy, which is focused on broader emissions beyond road transport and aims to cut air pollution and save lives. The World Health Organization (WHO) has praised the Strategy as “an example for the rest of the world to follow”.</p><p>Through the Clean Air Strategy, the Government has made a commitment to setting a new, ambitious, long term target to reduce people’s exposure to PM<sub>2.5,</sub> and will publish evidence early this year to examine what action would be needed to meet the WHO annual mean guideline limit of 10 µg/m3. The Government has also committed to introducing legislation to strengthen, simplify and update the legislative framework that applies at the local level in order to both enable and drive further reductions in local concentrations of air pollution. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/02/2019 answer text <p>There is a process in place to ensure the continuity of notified waste shipments in the case of a no-deal scenario, which was set out by the European Commission in November last year. We have received agreement to roll over 98% of existing consents for waste exports to the EU from the UK - agreeing 545 out of the 556 current approvals. This means that 99.7% of the waste which requires consent has a valid export licence from 30 March this year if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.</p><p> </p><p>We expect to reach agreement on the outstanding approvals and we are confident that leaving the EU without a deal would not have a significant impact on the continued export of the UK’s notified waste shipments that have already been agreed.</p><p> </p><p>In December last year, the Environment Agency began assessing waste disposal capacity particularly in the south east of England, in case waste that cannot be exported should need to be disposed of. Staff across the Environment Agency are engaging with operators to identify where issues, including stockpiling, may arise.
